Good morning folks, I am new here, so hopefully I am doing all this right :) For the last few months, I've had severe joint pain in my hands, knees, and shoulders. I had a colonoscopy done, and there was significant disease activity but I had to stop Humira due to pneumonia. Has anyone experienced the joint pain as a Crohn's sufferer? I don't have GI symptoms (which my GI thought was very odd as I had active disease in my digestive tract) but the joint pain is severe.

I've had Crohn's disease for approximately 20 years now. I've only started with extreme joint pain, stiffness, and even swelling in the last 5 years. I've recently started seeing a new GI doctor that specializes in IBDs. He has put me on celebrex for my joint pain and it has been amazing! It has really helped me a lot. I'm not saying that I never have bad days because I do, but they are few and far between after starting the Celebrex. May be something you want to talk to your doctor about…just a suggestion.

Yea, but I have to find a new GI doctor first. But thanks for the suggestions!

Hi- Sorry about your joint pain. There is a close relationship between Crohns and certain forms of arthritis. They are both immune-based diseases. I have psoriatic arthritis which is tied to Crohns - which I also have, luckily it's under control. If you look at many of the biologic drugs, like Humira, they're typically approved for both diseases. I take Cimzia with treats my arthritis and my Crohns. I would suggest mentioning it to your doc since it could be part of your Crohns. Feel better!
